Mississippi Lawmakers Tackle Kratom Regulations

Mississippi lawmakers are racing against time to finalize kratom regulation bills as the legislative session draws to a close. According to the Magnolia Tribune, both chambers have agreed on a 15% excise tax for kratom products, which vendors will pay but could pass on to consumers.

Lawmakers are also debating age restrictions, potency limits, and where kratom can be sold. The Senate has passed an amended version of HB 1077, the Kratom Consumer Protection Act, which includes these measures. Now, the House and Senate must negotiate to reach a consensus. Despite law enforcement’s push for a ban, such proposals have stalled. For more details, visit the Magnolia Tribune.
