A family-owned kratom shop in Dayton, Ohio, is expanding into kava with a new “social sober bar” opening inside its Linden Heights location, according to the Dayton Daily News. The Vibe Kava Bar will operate inside First Choice Kratom at 2915 Linden Ave, run by brothers Kenny, Larry, and Kurt Bruce, who also own kratom stores in Springdale and Reynoldsburg.
The bar will serve brewed kava tea and kava powder for take-home use alongside the shop’s existing kratom powder and capsules. Kenny Bruce described kava’s appeal as a way to get “the social feeling, like alcohol, but you do not lose your motor skills,” while co-owner Kurt Bruce acknowledged the plant’s taste and appearance aren’t the draw: “it’s just about the feeling.”
